To select applications that you want to access from active idle, select Menu > Settings > Config. > Phone > Idle screen mode >
Active idle apps. Select from the different shortcut settings and the desired application.
To view recent calls in the Log, press the left selection key.
To access the Address Book, press the right selection key.

The signal strength of the cellular network at your current location. The higher the bar, the stronger the signal.
